Trip Overview: 2 Days Tanzania Camping safari

Our 2 days camping safari to Lake Manyara national park and ngorongoro crater  is perfect for nature lovers and those who are looking for a break from civilisation and its comforts. Camping also means experiencing Africa’s nature, animals and cultures in an affordable way. On this two day camping safari, see a huge variety of wildlife such as water birds, antelopes and noisy troops of baboons in Lake Manyara National Park, and experience a collapsed volcano filled with predators and prey in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

In our adventure camping safari, you can immerse yourself in the Tanzania wilderness. Travel on rough and adventurous roads, pass tiny rural settlements and witness fascinating landscapes and abundant wildlife. All your senses will feel alive – smelling early morning coffee, experiencing the thrill of a kill and feeling the chill in the air of a morning game drive. Fall asleep to the hooting of an owl and wake up to the roaring of a lion. When you are camping, the safari experience is all the more intense as you are ‘right in the middle’ of it all. The nearness to nature compensates for the luxury of a lodge.

Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local and operational conditions may vary and unforeseen circumstances can arise, the following itinerary should be used as a guideline.

Day 0: Arrive in Tanzania:

You’ll be met by our ground handling team at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the delightful Ahadi Lodge. Relax in your thatched cottage, savor the enchanting views of Mount Meru, and unwind on the private verandah. Located just outside the vibrant town of Arusha, and set in its own tropical gardens, the lodge provides a gentle introduction to the natural beauty of Tanzania.

Overnight: Safari wildness Camps or Sakina Campsite

Meals Plan: Dinner and Break Fast

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park:

Non game-viewing travel time: 2 ½ hours
Distance: 130 km

Meet our professional tour guide/driver in Arusha town who will deliver a short safari info briefing. After, we travel to the Lake Manyara National Park. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, we'll head into the park. This impressive park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Kudu Lodge and campsite or Twiga Lodges&Campsite Meals Plan: Full Board

Day 2: Lake Manayara - Ngorongoro Crater

Non game-viewing travel time: 2 & 4 hours
Distance: 60km & 190 km

After breakfast, you will be driven to Ngorongoro Conservation area where we will descend 600m into this magnificent crater for a morning half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.

We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, then proceed with game drive until late afternoon  after which we travel back to Arusha where we will end our African safari adventure.

Overnight: On Request.

Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch Box or Hot lunch, Dinner.
