Off the beaten path safari is the confines of rough journeys, hiking, trekking and activities that make your heart sing, It isn’t a question of comfort, you can sleep and eat in luxury and considerable style in some of these remote off the beaten path safaris but we choose ground camping to be closer enough to the nature and wildlife. It’s more about whether you’ll be relaxed and spiritually reinvigorated by a spell in a place untrammeled by man.
This trip will take you out of civilization to Lake Natron close to Maasai community where you will soak to their traditional way of life, after that you will take challenge to climb the active volcanic mountain of Oldonyo lengai where after you will finish up with the rewarding safari to Serengeti national Park and Ngorongoro crater. All are the areas that supporting plenty of vegetation, traditional life and a diversity of wildlife. But don’t expect this to be a thrill-a-minute experience. These wilderness areas have a much more subtle, and lasting, charm, allows some few nights in one area, so that you can soak up its unique atmosphere of these off the beaten path safari.
Day 0: Arrive in Tanzania:
You’ll be met by our ground handling team at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the delightful campsite in Arusha. Relax in your thatched cottage, savor the enchanting views of Mount Meru, and unwind on the private verandah. Located just outside the vibrant town of Arusha, and set in its own tropical gardens, the lodge provides a gentle introduction to the natural beauty of Tanzania.

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Natron
Wake up early in the morning and driven to Lake Natron, a home to some extraordinary landscapes as well as many different types of wildlife. The only breeding place of over 2.5milion east African flamingos and spectacular sunsets, Lake Natron is truly a unique place to see. It is common to see zebra, giraffes, ostriches, baboons, gazelles, donkeys, and many other animals. After you arrive you will have a guided hike around Lake Natron a full day from the Eco Lodge to the south part of Lake Natron to explore the ecological diversity and get to know the beautiful flamingo breeding sites. With your maasai guide, learn about the different seasons and their migration patterns to various East Africa Rift Valley saline lakes. Your hike will be Extended to explore one of the oldest footprints of homo sapiens dating back about 120,000 years ago.
Day 2: Lake Natron Full Day
Traditional Maasai Village Experience and trekking to Oldonyo Lengai:
Today you will start your day by visiting local Maasai village of Engaresero. Ladies will wake up early to join maasai women for local milking sessions, Men will join maasai Moran for a trip to grazing pastures, all you will learn about the traditional Maasai life at first-hand what it is like to live their lifestyle. There will be a lot of authentic jewelry for sale that the women make, and it is a great place to photograph the local Massai. You must ask before you take photos.
If you are up for a challenge, you will have a guided trek up to the top of the active volcanic mountain called OLDONYO LENGAI “The mountain of God”. Trekking this active volcanic mountain takes place at night, usually leaving the camp around 11pm. Ascending starts at midnight so that you get to the top around 6am for the sunrise. We will start descending before it gets hot as the sun reflects off of the volcanic ash during the day.
Day 3: Lake Natron Full Day
Trip to Engaresero water Falls
Today is the relaxing day and last day at Lake Natron area, you will have a guided trip to the Engaresero Falls. It takes only a few minutes to drive to the trail, and takes approximately 2-3 hours round trip to get to the falls and back. You will take a short drive towards the rift valley escarpment and leave the 4x4 safari vehicle behind and hike throughout the Engaresero river valley until you get to the second waterfall where you can take a natural shower and relax the natural water falls.
Day 4: Lake Natron - Serengeti National Park
Safari to Serengeti National Park:
After breakfast you will leave Engaresero village and drive through the cooler highland region towards the Serengeti National park. The world-renowned Serengeti National Park, with its diverse landscape ranging from grass plains and dry savannah to marshy woodlands, is the stamping ground of many carnivorous predators and their prey. The park is home to the largest animal
migration in the world and depending on the season you will be able to witness this spectacular wildebeest migration,The Seasons:in the short rainy season of November and December from the hills in the north to the southern plains before returning to the north during the longer rainy season of April to June. The location of the migrating herds is dependent on the yearly rainfall, but your guide will know where the best vantage points for wildlife viewing are. The night will be spent on Lobo public Campsite.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Serengeti National Park full day- overnight at campsite on Ngorongoro crater rim:
As the sun slowly rises over the vast open plains, you will embark on your first game drive of the day. Due to the abundance of prey species, such as gazelles and impalas, the park boasts one of the largest lion populations in Africa as well as other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. Returning to camp after the game drive you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving the park and driving towards Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the crater rim very late in the evening, the 600m deep caldera in all its splendor opens up before you. You will spend the night at a campsite on the crater’s edge, watching the sun set over the glistening springs of the collapsed volcano’s floor.
Day 6: Full day safari to Ngorongoro crater
Ngorongoro Crater overnight at Mto wa Mbu
After an early breakfast you will start your descent on a narrow and steep road to the crater floor. The crater is inhabited by a spectacular array of wildlife, which includes zebras, hippos, hyenas, wildebeests, warthogs and the famous “Big Five” – buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant and leopard. After extensive game viewing and a lunch at a picnic spot, you will leave the crater and travel outside of the crater to the village called Mto wa Mbu for your overnight stay.
Day 7: Arusha to Lake Natron
Mto wa Mbu to Lake Manyara and Treetop walkaway:
You will be picked up at your campsite and journey to the small, yet diverse, Lake Manyara National Park. The park, which stretches along the Rift Valley Escarpment, the more than 400 species of birds make this park a bird lovers’ paradise and on any given day 100 different species can be observed. Apart from the avian inhabitants, giraffes, elephants, monkeys and antelopes can be spotted in the forest, acacia trees and grasslands. With a bit of luck, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the famous tree-climbing lions, a somewhat uncommon trait for these large cats. After a thorough exploration of the park, you will have a Treetop Walkway takes you on a sky-high adventure through the beautiful forest of Lake Manyara. Walk among the treetops and experience untouched nature and wildlife from a unique perspective. This 370m airwalk starts with a short board-walk that gradually rises from ground level up through the canopy of the forest. You walk over a series of suspension bridges with thick netting on the sides and reach a height of 18m off the ground. Each of the bridges end on a viewing deck situated around tree trunks. These treetop platforms are perfect places to stop and enjoy life in the canopy amongst butterflies, monkeys and birds.
During this walk guides will point out interesting facts about the Lake Manyara flora and fauna, while you can enjoy a unique birds-eye view of the world around you. This is Tanzania's first Treetop Walkway and one of the longest in Africa. A great outdoor activity for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Families, couples, individuals and groups.
