10 Days Tanzania Photography Safari Itinerary

Theme: Wildebeest Migration River-crossing Photography tour.

Safari Itinerary:

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive to Arusha: Distance:   57Km | Travel Time:   1 hour.

Our airport team will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred you to the delightful accommodation in Arusha for the rest after a long international flight.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park: Distance:   130 | Travel   Time:  2.5 hour.

Spend a half day day exploring Arusha, a vibrant city located at the base of Mount Meru, A beautiful city in Tanzania, known for its stunning landscapes, wildlife, and vibrant culture. While it may not be as well-known for photography tours as some other destinations in Tanzania, there are still plenty of opportunities to capture amazing shots in and around Arusha.

Today our tour photography tour start by vising Kilombero Food Market is a vibrant marketplace located in Arusha. It is known for its diverse selection of local produce, traditional foods, and lively atmosphere, here are a few tips to capture the essence of the place, Capture the Colors: The market is filled with an array of colorful fruits, vegetables, spices, and fabrics and the People: The market is bustling with activity, with vendors and customers going about their daily routines. Photograph the friendly faces, interactions, and expressions of the people to convey the lively atmosphere of the market.

After Food Market tour we will move to vibrant Maasai Market, where you can capture the colorful traditional Maasai clothing, jewelry, and crafts. The market is a great place to photograph the bustling atmosphere and interact with the friendly locals.

After the tour, we will drive to our office garden for a well prepared lunch, after lunch we will board our vehicle and drive 2 and a half hours to Tarangire National Park, arrive at late afternoon You will have an evening game drive to see more of the attractions in Tarangire national park as you capture the wildlife and landscape under the beautiful sunset in the wilderness and later you will drive back to our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day at Tarangire National Park:

Discover and Explore Tarangire National Park One of the largest national parks in Tanzania. Spend the day photographing wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and more. Characterized by the large herds of elephants, more than 250 bird species and the fascinating baobab trees also called the Tree of Life for its almost mythical powers that some cultures attach to it. This park is especially known for Tarangire River which flows all year round and the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons.

Wildlife: Wildebeest, Zebra, Eland, Hartebeest, Lion, Leopards, wild dog, Gerenuk, Oryx, Pythons, Gazelle, Buffalo and Abundant Elephant.

Birdlife: Yellow necked spurfowl, Northern white crowned shrike, Black necked weaver, White faced whistling duck, Red, billed hornbill, Pygmy falcon, African marsh harrier, Woodland kingfisher, Black headed heron, African Hoopoe, Yellow billed stork, Lilac breasted roller, Open-bill stork, Ostrich, Superb starling, Red&Yellow Barbet.

After a full day game drive, your guide will drive you outside the park to the hotel in Karatu town for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Karatu to Central Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast, we leave with filled hot lunch and head for Central Serengeti National park through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Leaving the cliff ridges behind we drive through a majestic landscape, regularly meeting local residents and their beautiful cattle on our way.

Spend the day exploring the park central region and Seronera Valley, capturing the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other animals move across the plains, Photograph predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards in action. Enjoy a beautiful landscapes and dramatic sunsets.

Popular activities: game viewing, Bird watching and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Wildlife Highlights: wildebeest Migration, zebra, lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, cheetah, gazelle, giraffe, spotted hyena, jackal, Aardwolf, Serval, Agama lizard, rock hyrax, secretary bird, ostrich, black eagle & this is the most visited park in Tanzania; famous for massive migration of ungulates; more than 500 bird species.

After a game drive, your guide will drive you to your accommodation inside the park for dinner and overnight.

Day 4,5,6,7: Northern Serengeti National Park (Kagotende Area):

A photography safari in the Serengeti’s Kagotende area during the wildebeest migration river crossing can be an incredible experience. There are several things you might want to capture with your camera or experience in person, the sheer number of animals: The wildebeest migration is one of the largest wildlife spectacles on Earth. Try to capture the vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and other animals as they gather along the riverbanks, the river crossing itself: The river crossings are the most dramatic and thrilling moments of the migration. Focus on capturing the chaos, as thousands of animals attempt to navigate the rushing waters while avoiding predators like crocodiles and lions, Animal interactions: Observe and photograph the interactions between different animal species. Capture the zebras and wildebeest mingling together or the predators lurking nearby, waiting for an opportunity. Dramatic landscapes: The wildebeest migration takes place in diverse and stunning landscapes, such as the Serengeti in Tanzania. Make sure to capture the beautiful scenery as a backdrop to the wildlife. Birdlife: Don’t forget to capture the various bird species that follow the migration, such as vultures, eagles, and storks. These birds often gather around the herds, providing additional photographic opportunities. Behavioral moments: Keep an eye out for interesting behaviors, such as wildebeests leaping into the water, animals crossing in single file, or predators stalking their prey. These moments can make for captivating photographs.

After all day’s tours, your guide will drive you to your accommodation inside the park for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Northern Serengeti (Kagotende Area) to Ngorongoro Conservation Area : Distance: 285 km | Travel time: 5 – 6 hrs.

Early start, if you wish 06:30 am with packed breakfast, then after picnic early hot lunch we will be heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with en-route game drive. In the afternoon you will your walk along the Crater rim the walk that will take you through gorgeous foliage, past colorful wild flowers and lush trees unique to the Ngorongoro Highlands. The walk is particularly rewarding for montane forest birds, including the olive sunbird, cinnamon-chested bee-eater, and European roller that we spotted. You could also – as we did – come across larger fauna; such as giraffe, zebra and elephant (which is why you are accompanied by an experienced guide and armed ranger at all times). After this beautiful walking tour, you will return to the lodge at crater rim for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Full Day to Arusha:

After breakfast, we will drive to Ngorongoro for the crater tour with picnic descent to the crater floor for the day tour. Some 20,000 mammals live in the area including about 20 black rhinoceros, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see these amazing creatures. The crater floor also has one of the highest carnivore densities in the world. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals are commonly seen, while leopards, Serval and bat-eared foxes may be seen with some luck. We will leave the crater around 4pm after game viewing of African Big-five in one park and drive to the accommodation in Arusha for Dinner and overnight.

Wildlife Highlights: wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, black rhinoceros, lion, hartebeest, spotted hyena, hippopotamus, buffalo, elephant, mountain reedbuck, leopard, serval, ostrich, kori- bustard, papilio sjoestedti & many archeological and paleontological sites: Olduvai Gorge, Laetoli, Lake Ndutu.

Day 10: Departure: Say goodbye to Africa, based on your flight details, we will have a goodbye lunch at our office and sit with our managers for your photography safari debriefing, then after we will drive you to Kilimanjaro International airport for your fight back home.
