Materuni Village Day tour Visit
08:30 AM: Depart from your accommodation and drive to Materuni Village (approx. 1 hour from Moshi or 2 hours from Arusha).
09:30 AM: Arrive at the village and register at the local office. Receive a warm welcome from the Chagga community and your guide, who will brief you on the day’s activities.
Materuni Waterfall Hike
Begin a guided hike through the lush coffee and banana plantations en route to the Materuni Waterfall, located about 40 minutes away. Along the way, learn about the local flora, fauna, and the Chagga people’s way of life.
Reach the majestic Materuni Waterfall, cascading over 80 meters, and enjoy the stunning views. If the weather permits, you might catch a glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit. Spend time admiring the waterfall and its serene surroundings before hiking back to the village.
Coffee Tour
Upon returning to Materuni, participate in a coffee-making experience. Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed by the locals using traditional methods. Engage in the grinding, roasting, and brewing of coffee, accompanied by lively Chagga songs and dances.
Savor a freshly brewed cup of authentic Chagga coffee and take the opportunity to purchase some coffee as a memento.
Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch, featuring local delicacies like banana stew and other Tanzanian dishes.
After lunch spend some time interacting with the villagers, learning about their culture, and exploring their sustainable farming practices. Visit local craft markets or take a short village tour to see daily life in Materuni.
03:30 PM: Depart Materuni Village and begin your return journey. Arrive back at your accommodation, concluding your enriching cultural experience or drive to airport.
